The Philadelphia 76ers dropped their first game of the 2026-27 season on Sunday following their 106-93 loss to the Detroit Pistons. One of the major areas of concern for the 76ers was their rebounding. The 76ers were out-rebounded by the Pistons, 54-37, and after the game, LeBron James quoted his old teammate, Taurean Prince, when asked how the team can fix their rebounding issues, as per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

“In the great words of Taurean Prince, who I saw tonight on the bench, a good friend of mine,” James said. “The ball goes up in the air, and you go grab the ball, that’s what I mean.”

LeBron James was jokingly referring to Taurean Prince’s old viral moment from college when describing what the 76ers need to do address their rebounding. Prince was at Baylor when they were upset by Yale in the NCAA Tournament in 2016. The Bears were out-rebounded by the Bulldogs, prompting a reporter to ask Prince how Baylor lets something like that happen.

Prince went to explain what a rebound is, with a completely serious face, and then proclaim that it happened because Yale got more of them than Baylor did.

In the loss to the Pistons, James finished with 18 points in 33 minutes while shooting 8-of-15 from the field, 0-of-3 from the 3-point line and 2-of-6 from the free-throw line. He also added two rebounds, five assists and two steals.

James signed a free agent contract with the Sixers in the offseason and is now in his 24th year in the NBA.
