The Denver Nuggets are adding one of college basketball's more memorable names to their training camp roster, signing former SMU standout Boopie Miller to an Exhibit 10 contract.

With Denver set to begin training camp Tuesday, Sept. 29, Miller will get an opportunity to compete for a roster spot after spending the summer with the Milwaukee Bucks.

NBA insider Marc Stein reported the move Tuesday on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“I’m told former @SMUBasketball star guard Boopie Miller, who played in summer league with the Bucks, has received a training camp invite from the Nuggets and will sign an Exhibit 10 contract with Denver this week.”

Beyond a nickname that immediately stands out, Miller arrives in Denver following an accomplished five-year college career.

The 23-year-old guard averaged 15.5 points, 5 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals across 130 games, including 128 starts. Miller shot 44.7% from the field and 37.7% from 3-point range while averaging 32.5 minutes per game during stops at Central Michigan, Wake Forest and SMU.

Miller saved his best production for his final collegiate season at SMU in 2025-26. He averaged career highs of 19.1 points and 6.4 assists while adding 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals across 33 appearances.

His shooting also took a significant step forward. Miller connected on 46.5% of his field-goal attempts and 41.4% from beyond the arc while playing 35.3 minutes per game.

An Exhibit 10 deal gives Miller an opportunity to make an impression during training camp while providing Denver with additional backcourt depth during the preseason.

The Nuggets will begin preparations next week before opening the 2026-27 regular season Thursday, Oct. 22, against the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road. The matchup is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Before then, Denver's newest guard — and undoubtedly one of the most uniquely named players at camp — will have his chance to compete for a place within the organization.
