The Notre Dame football team posted one of the best wins in program history on Saturday. Notre Dame defeated no. 1 and previously undefeated Miami (FL), 31-24. Following the win, the Fighting Irish program released a video to reintroduce themselves to the country.

The video showed highlights from the Miami win, while using the music of legendary rapper Jay-Z.

Notre Dame's win on Saturday was absolutely critical for them, in their quest to return to the College Football Playoff. The Fighting Irish lost earlier this season at BYU. Since Notre Dame plays as an independent, a second loss on the campaign would be devastating.

“It’s a special moment,” Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman said, per the Associated Press. “Enjoy the moment, because tomorrow when you wake up it’s time to get ready for the next one. I know it’s a big one. This is big. This is special. I’m not going to sit here and say this was like the other ones. No, this is different.”

The Fighting Irish set the tone for the game early. Notre Dame took a 17-3 lead into halftime over the Hurricanes. While Miami made a strong comeback in the second half, it wasn't enough to win.

“Obviously, a tough loss to take,” Miami head coach Mario Cristobal said. “Proud of our players for the resilience. … Don't leave it in the hands of the officials. Play better. Coach better. Find a way to win.”

Notre Dame missed the CFP in 2025. The Fighting Irish though have been one of the strongest programs in college football the last few seasons. The team made the CFP in 2024, and reached the national championship game.

Notre Dame fans hope for another special season like that this year. The Fighting Irish next play Boston College on Saturday.
