Coach Marcus Freeman's Notre Dame Fighting Irish headed to Provo, Utah to take on BYU and fell behind 21-10 at halftime even with Marcus Gilbert's insane one-hand catch. The Gilbert highlight gave way to lowlights as Leonard Miller got a concussion and QB CJ Carr made a huge mistake on an attempted spike.
Carr attempted to spike the ball but dropped it. Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and others were in attendance as the ruling on the field was announced.
The Fighting Irish struggled to keep up with a fired-up BYU team as the Cougars clung to their 11-point lead. Carr was outplayed by Bear Bachmeier as fans continued to wait for the Heisman Trophy contending version of the Notre Dame quarterback to find his rhythm.
