Coach Marcus Freeman's Notre Dame Fighting Irish fell to 6-1 with a controversial 28-24 road loss to BYU that included an outrageously good catch by Marcus Gilbert. BYU survived a late Fighting Irish surge to secure the victory, but a controversial no-call on an alleged pass interference remained fresh in the minds of many after the game.
A BYU defender, Evan Johnson, appeared to wrap his hands around Notre Dame star Jaden Greathouse for an extended period of time in a replay shared by reporter Ari Meirov. Johnson then appeared to take down Greathouse before he could make a play on the ball, as part of a series of occurrences that had fans feeling livid.
“Because they have to put Miami number one Ari,” one fan said about the Hurricanes.
“The refs just want to get out of there,” another said.
“It is DPI,” another said.
Others thought a second was left on the clock. Many showed pictures of the scoreboard after the final play and BYU's four-point win.

“Couple bad calls hurt ND. But it was a poorly reffed game overall,” another added.
