Northwestern football is hitting new accolades with quarterback Aidan Chiles behind center. But he's feeling the effects of the Oregon loss. Which now has him questionable for the pivotal Big Ten clash against Iowa.
College football insider for On3 Pete Nakos revealed Wednesday that Chiles is questionable for the showdown.
Chiles' injury wasn't revealed. However, he previously dealt with a dislocated finger earlier in the season.
His resurgence following multiple College Football Transfer Portal entries has galvanized the Wildcats. Chiles is putting together his finest season yet featuring 1,898 yards, 13 touchdown passes and just one interception. Plus added a career-high 274 rushing yards with 10 touchdowns.
Northwestern rose to No. 24 in the national rankings thanks to the stellar play of Chiles. Especially with famed offensive coordinator and past UCLA/Oregon head coach Chip Kelly calling the plays for Chiles. Northwestern even rose to 15th overall in the ClutchPoints power rankings to close out the month of October. Kelly has found a way to unlock the former Oregon State and Michigan State quarterback.
Article Continues BelowThe 34-26 loss to the Ducks, though, knocked Northwestern from the top 25. Meanwhile, Northwestern owns a 3.6% chance of winning the rest of its games according to ESPN's Football Power Index. The FPI also has the Wildcats facing a 100% chance of claiming at least six victories, which will make them bowl eligible. But their chances of making the 12-team postseason is slimmer, earning a 7.4% chance there in the crowded field.
Now Chiles' injury could alter plans on the offensive side against the Hawkeyes, who are also not out of the CFP or Big Ten title race yet.
