There are several NHL teams checking in with the Detroit Red Wings about center Dylan Larkin. Larkin has openly expressed his desire to leave Detroit, after playing his entire NHL career there. The Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres are both reportedly interested, per The Fourth Period.

There will be plenty of competition though for Larkin's services, if he does leave in a trade. His situation is unique and Buffalo and Montreal don't exactly have a strong advantage.

“Minnesota, Vegas, Florida, Dallas, Tampa Bay, Colorado, Washington, Carolina, New Jersey and Utah compile the 10 teams Larkin is currently willing to waive his no-trade clause for. However, teams like Montreal, Buffalo, Boston, St. Louis and Los Angeles are among some of the other teams that have reportedly expressed interest, as well,” the outlet reported.

Larkin is currently suspended by the Red Wings. He has been a force on the team in recent years. During the 2025-26 season, Larkin posted 67 points.

This season, the Red Wings center has six points in 10 game appearances. Larkin has 649 career regular season points.

“I've got to give Dylan a lot of credit — he went out and played hard for us,” Red Wings interim general manager Shawn Horcoff said, per ESPN. “Dylan's been here for 12 years. In terms of [how long he's] sitting out, I can't put a timeline on it. With the teams on his list, a trade is difficult.”

Both Buffalo and Montreal have been successful recently. The teams both made the Stanley Cup Playoffs during the 2025-26 campaign. Time will tell if one of these two clubs is able to pick up Larkin.

The Red Wings are in action on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Detroit has a 7-5-3 record this season.
