If you need a good fantasy football tight end, there are plenty to be had this season. But there are still risky choices. However, for a one-week stopgap guy, here are the NFL Week 2 streaming options at tight end.

Not everybody can have Trey McBride. And getting in the top five is tough. But if you’re unsure about a guy like Brock Bowers this week because of his injury status, here are some guys who could help.

TE Mark Andrews, Ravens

The biggest beneficiary of a possible absence by Zay Flowers would be Andrews. And he’s a big plus in that he should be able to get into the end zone, according to fantasylife.com.

“Baltimore should score points, and Andrews’ Week 1 deployment near the goal line is exactly what we want to see,” Justin Carlucci wrote. “He played nine of the Ravens’ 11 snaps inside the 20-yard line, six of eight inside the 10, and all four snaps inside the 5.”

It’s past time to have Andrews in your lineup every week. But for this week against the Saints, it’s a fairly safe call to get him in there.

TE Mike Gesicki, Bengals

It’s hit or miss with this guy. Mostly miss. He’s an afterthought in the Bengals offense. However, he’s coming off a strong week with five catches for 78 yards and a touchdown.

But here’s the thing this week. The Texans will roll out the zone coverage. There should be plenty of opportunities for Gesicki to rack up around five catches once again. The keys will be whether those translate into yardage or if he gets into the end zone.

On the former, probably not. Gesicki didn’t have back-to-back decent yardage games all of last season. However, he might be able to find a crease for a touchdown as the Texans try to lock down on Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins in the red zone.

However, you should tread carefully, according to Sports Illustrated.

“Gesicki is not getting a near 21% target share again,” Michael Fabiano wrote. “I also don’t think the Texans defense is as bad as it looked last week, so I think Gesicki will fall back to earth.”

TE Brenton Strange, Jaguars

If you go this direction, you’re planting your flag that the Jaguars’ offense is for real again this year. If they’re not, this is exactly the kind of matchup where they fall on their face. On the road. Against an angry Broncos defense that was absolutely embarrassed by the division rival Chiefs.

Strange only had two catches for 23 yards in Week 1. But he found the end zone. You can’t completely count on him scoring again. So to make this streaming choice, you have to believe in five catches for 50 yards. It’s possible, but like any streamer, it’s a risk.

TE T.J. Hockenson, Vikings

The numbers are there from Week 1, according to Fantasy Pros.

“T.J. Hockenson had a surprising Week 1 as the TE9,” Fantasy Pros wrote. “Hockenson had a 16.7% target share, 36 receiving yards (1.71 YPRR), one red zone target, a score, and a 20% first-read share.”

That’s good stuff. Now, will those numbers be the same in Week 2? Probably, if Carson Wentz is at quarterback again. These are the dice rolls fantasy managers often face.

TE Pat Freiermuth, Steelers

You’re going to need steady nerves to make this move. Aaron Rodgers is so far past his prime, it’s not funny anymore. You can’t count on big passing numbers from him. And with fewer yards to go around, that means less opportunity for Freiermuth.

However, Michael Pittman Jr. popped up on the injury report. So maybe there’s a world where Freiermuth gets enough targets to make an impact for your fantasy team. But more realistically, you’re hoping for another touchdown. There is a role for him, according to ESPN.

“He's the underneath outlet for Aaron Rodgers in Mike McCarthy's offense, plus he can run the seams, using his frame to build leverage to the ball,” Matt Bowen wrote. “Deeper leagues only here, but Freiermuth did put some quality stuff on tape last week.”

Truly, Freiermuth is really only a deep-league target.

TE Michael Mayer, Raiders

If Bowers is out, and only if, you could turn your fantasy attention to Mayer. He had six catches for 32 yards in Week 1. And the matchup is good, according to the Sporting News.

“Facing the Chargers, who recently let Trey McBride score 24.5 fantasy points, makes Mayer especially attractive if Bowers is out,” Griffin Missant wrote.
