The Arizona Cardinals unofficially kicked off trade season when they dealt Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Houston Texans. Now, other struggling teams could follow suit in trading veterans for draft capital, and Khalil Mack is one name to watch out for. In fact, Jordan Schultz reported that he thinks the Los Angeles Chargers edge rusher could join the trade block sooner rather than later.

“The Chargers are 0-5, they have Kansas City next, and then their bye,” Schultz said. “If the Bolts get to 0-6, I think that is when some changes can start happening. Mack is still very disruptive; he still gets pressure, and he is still the type of veteran that every contender would want. If the Chargers are clearly out of it, then keeping him doesn't make much sense. They have several potential trade candidates, but Mack is the biggest name.”

As has been the case far too often in recent years, the Chargers have not lived up to expectations this year. No team has overcome an 0-5 start to make the playoffs, so it seems inevitable that Los Angeles will become trade sellers. At 35 years old, Mack isn't the level of player he was when he won Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Even so, he is a proven pass rusher with nine Pro Bowl nods and 116 sacks to his name. As a situational rusher, Mack can still create havoc in opposing backfields. Schultz doesn't report which teams could be interested in Mack's services, but the Chicago Bears make sense as a potential fit.

The defensive end previously spent five seasons in Chicago. Now, the Bears have one of the best offenses in the NFL, but their defense can still use a boost after losing a number of talented players in the offseason. Schultz also listed Josh Sweat and Jerry Jeudy as potential trade candidates. Whatever happens, the weeks leading up to the trade deadline are likely to be entertaining.
