The Indianapolis Colts are going full fire sale mode ahead of the NFL trade deadline. Indy already traded Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner and now Josh Downs has requested a trade. It seems that other teams are also doing their homework on one Colts defensive player who is enjoying a breakout season.
NFL insider Mike Garafolo shared one Colts player who other NFL teams may want to trade for at the deadline.
“The Colts sort of brought this on themselves in that everything must go is the way that people are thinking and it's not necessarily the case there for the Colts. They still have a mind toward what's happening moving forward. But everybody's being checked out now, and I know some teams are doing homework now on defensive tackle Adetomiwa Adebawore. He is a former fourth-round pick that's really turned the corner and has been disruptive inside. I know that if he's made available, this is a guy that other teams might wanna be able to pry away from the Colts. In the meantime, he could still be a piece of what's happening in Indianapolis.”
Adebawore's production does not jump off the box score. He has just 17 total tackles with four sacks and one pass defensed in seven games this season. But the advanced metrics show he is playing at a high level.
Garafolo also shared a graphic that uses advanced metrics to illustrate how well Adebawore has played so far this season. It charts the pass rush grade and run defense grade percentiles for defensive tackles using PFF grades. Adebawore resides in the top right corner of the graph alongside superstar Dexter Lawrence. That shows that Adebawore is playing at an elite level, both against the run and the pass.
Article Continues BelowAdebawore is on the final year of his rookie contract. He should demand a big raise this offseason, be it with the Colts, on another team, or while hitting the open market.
Next up for the Colts is a road game against the Jaguars. That AFC South contest kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on Nov. 1 from EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville.
