Brendan Sorsby was one of the biggest offseason storylines in college football. After two seasons with Indiana and another two at Cincinnati, Sorsby transferred to Texas Tech with the expectations of contending for a national championship. Then, he entered rehab for a gambling addiction, and it came to light he placed wagers on his own teams. This led to the quarterback becoming ineligible and Sorsby focusing on the 2027 NFL Draft.
While other top quarterbacks will have the college season to show what they can do, Sorsby does not. For the first time since being ruled ineligible, he has posted a video on social media, showing his work.
“Leave the past in the past. Learn from it, grow from it. Full focus ahead on the things to come,” the caption of Sorsby's post on X, formerly Twitter, read.

The one-minute-and-39-second video shows him doing work both on the field and breaking down plays in the classroom.
Sorsby was seen as one of the best quarterbacks in this class. Still, without work on the field, it remains to be seen how he will be evaluated. Add in a year away from the field, plus his past gambling problems, and his draft stock could take a hit from teams afraid to bring him into the program.
The latest ClutchPoints 2027 NFL Mock Draft has five quarterbacks currently going in the top ten picks. Arch Manning from Texas goes first overall, while Darian Mensah of Miami, Drew Mestemaker of Oklahoma State, Trinidad Chambliss of Ole Miss, and Dante Moore of Oregon are all gone before the tenth pick. Meanwhile, Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr is projected to be picked 24th overall.
There is still plenty of time before the 2027 NFL Draft, but Sorsby will need to show more than a sub-two-minute video to prove that he can play at the next level.
