The Los Angeles Chargers suffered undoubtedly the most shocking loss of the Week 1 NFL slate by dropping a home game to the (seemingly) lowly Arizona Cardinals. The Chargers entered this game as the biggest favorites of any team this weekend but ended up losing by a score of 26-14, with Mike McDaniel's new-look offense never getting off the ground.

On Monday, NFL analyst Kevin Clark of ESPN stopped by The Dan Patrick Show and tried to explain what went wrong with Los Angeles.

“This is as bad as it gets. You want to talk about offseason hype, the Chargers, it's every year… You can't lose this game. You can't have Jim Harbaugh saying that Justin Herbert's going to go down as the best quarterback in history and then lose to the Arizona Cardinals… this was horrific, and it just seemed disjointed. It seemed like not a Jim Harbaugh team,” he said, per Dan Patrick Show on X, formerly Twitter.

Indeed, the Chargers looked out of sync from the jump, quickly falling behind by a touchdown in this one. Herbert was sacked three times and also tossed a brutal interception in the first quarter on a bad decision that essentially ended any chances of a Los Angeles comeback.

The Chargers entered this season as the darling pick of many pundits to challenge for the AFC crown, with the team having hired McDaniel, one of the league's most respected offensive minds, to be their new OC and hopefully unlock new layers to Herbert's game this year.

While it's only one game, a quick look at the Chargers' upcoming schedule would reveal that the team needs to get their act together quickly, or this season could end before it even has a chance to begin.
