Oli McBurnie has been handed a first Scotland call-up for five-and-a-half years by new manager Sebastien Pocognoli.
The Hull City striker was controversially left out of Steve Clarke's World Cup squad despite helping fire the Tigers to promotion.
His omission came despite scoring 17 Championship goals as well as the winner in the play-off final last term.
He has since featured in all four of Hull's Premier League outings this season.
McBurnie, who has featured 17 times at senior international level, could now win his first cap since appearing against the Faroe Islands in March 2021.
Scotland will face Slovenia, Switzerland and North Macedonia in their first action since the World Cup.
Pocognoli has also included seven uncapped stars in his 28-man squad for those matches having been appointed last month.
Luis Binks, Colby Donovan, Luke Graham, Jon McCracken, Josh McPake, Robbie Ure and Stephen Welsh have all been brought in by the new boss.
Meanwhile, just 14 members of the side which travelled to North America for this summer's World Cup have been selected.
Amongst those missing is talisman Scott McTominay, who is currently sidelined after successful surgery on a heart issue.
The Napoli midfielder is expected to return to training later this month.
