The Dallas Cowboys made several roster moves Saturday ahead of their Week 9 road matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, including placing rookie first-round linebacker Malachi Lawrence on injured reserve and activating outside linebacker Marist Liufau.

As Dallas (3-5) prepares to face the struggling Colts (2-6) on Sunday, the organization also elevated wide receiver Jordan Hudson and tight end James Mitchell from the practice squad while ruling out defensive tackle Jonathan Bullard.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported the moves Saturday on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“The #Cowboys placed rookie first-round LB Malachi Lawrence on IR and activated OLB Marist Liufau from IR. The team elevated WR Jordan Hudson and TE James Mitchell from the practice squad.

“DT Jonathan Bullard will remain on IR and has been ruled out for tomorrow.”

Lawrence's placement on injured reserve represents another setback for a Dallas defense looking to improve its consistency. The rookie will miss at least four games, leaving the Cowboys without one of their young defensive contributors during an important stretch of the season.

Cowboys bolster roster depth ahead of crucial Week 9 clash vs. Colts

However, Liufau's return provides Dallas with additional depth at linebacker. His activation comes at an important time as the Cowboys attempt to address their defensive struggles and get back into the NFC playoff race.

Meanwhile, Hudson and Mitchell will provide additional offensive depth for quarterback Dak Prescott and the Cowboys. Their elevations give Dallas more options at wide receiver and tight end heading into Sunday's matchup.

Bullard's continued absence also leaves the Cowboys without another defensive lineman as they prepare to face Indianapolis.

Dallas enters Week 9 looking to rebound from a disappointing 33-30 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8. The defeat dropped the Cowboys to 3-5, increasing the pressure to turn their season around.

The Cowboys will face the Colts on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on Fox, hoping their latest roster adjustments help them secure a much-needed victory.
