The Cincinnati Bengals are facing a crossroads early in the 2026 NFL season. Cincinnati failed their comeback attempt against Jacksonville on Sunday to fall to 2-2 on the season. The Bengals are in a very serious situation, but there is still some room for humor around this plucky AFC squad.
ESPN's Mina Kimes made a hilarious joke about the movie Deep Impact while referencing Joe Burrow's recent comments following Week 4.
“Me when my parents rented DEEP IMPACT from Blockbuster,” Kimes wrote on social media. The post included a photo of Burrow along with a quote “this isn't Armageddon.”
Burrow used the word Armageddon while trying to ease concerns about the Bengals following the disappointing loss.
“We had our opportunities in the last two weeks, but this isn't Armageddon or anything,” Burrow said after the game, per ESPN's Ben Baby. “We're still in a great spot [and] feel really good about our team.”
The Bengals started the season off strong with two consecutive wins. Those hots starts have been a rarity during the Zac Taylor era in Cincinnati, so hopes were sky high headed into Week 3. Unfortunately, the team has come back down to earth after two straight losses.
Cincinnati was battling through a lot of adversity against Jacksonville. Both Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins suffered injuries on Sunday, leaving Dohnte Meyers and Mitchell Tinsley as Burrow's top targets. Despite this, the Bengals almost pulled off an improbable upset victory against an AFC powerhouse.

Fortunately, Cincinnati has a great opportunity to pull off an easy win this weekend to get themselves back on track.
Next up for the Bengals is a road game against the Dolphins. That contest kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on Oct. 11 from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
