The New York Knicks snapped a 53-year championship drought this past season, and apparently the jubilation and fallout from their title run has had family members that haven’t spoken to each other in decades, rekindling their relationships. For Knicks guard Miles McBride, it’s a pretty cool thing that people are reconnecting with family over their championship, but he joked that it shouldn’t take a professional sports team to make that happen, as per SNY Knicks.
“It’s not funny, but in the sense that I had people coming to me and saying I haven’t talked to my family member in 10 years, and I’m like, well we should not be the reason you’re rekindling relationships,” McBride joked. “But, that’s cool to hear. I’m glad things like that, like I said, it’s not what I want to hear necessarily, but I would say those are cool moments to hear that what we’re doing on the court was able to bring people back together.”
Jokes aside, with NBA training camps getting underway this week, so does the Knicks’ title defense. And the sixth-year guard figures to be a big part of that, albeit seeing a slightly reduced role in the playoffs last season.

He averaged a career-high 12.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists with splits of 42.3 percent shooting from the field, 41.3 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 78.7 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
He dealt with unfortunate injury woes which contributed to his reduced role in the playoffs, but he’s expected to be fully healthy to begin this year.
