Florida State football head coach Mike Norvell no longer has athletic director Michael Alford in his corner. Alford's firing signals that Norvell could be next if FSU doesn't defeat Alabama on Saturday. Already Norvell's house got spotted with a moving truck that went viral Tuesday.

Norvell broke his silence on why the large vehicle was there. But the head coach revealed the truck wasn't there to pack his belongings up. He shared via ESPN college football reporter Andrea Adelson that the truck arrived to drop off a desk for his daughter.

“Oh that's awesome. I don't look a whole lot online,” Norvell said. “All of our focus is on this team; that's where I live. There can be plenty of speculation. There can be plenty of things that are out there. I get the opportunity to show up every day, bring the right attitude, bring the right mentality, bring the right work, pouring into this team, pouring into these players. I believe in that.”

So Norvell is downplaying that he's cleaning house with the truck being present. Still, the veteran head coach is feeling the heat this early into the 2026 season.

His Seminoles already struggled to finish off nationally-ranked SMU during Labor Day weekend. This despite forcing multiple takeaways against Mustangs quarterback Kevin Jennings. FSU also looked underwhelming in its week zero opener against New Mexico State, beating the Aggies 34-17.

Norvell won't have dual-threat passer Tommy Castellanos for this contest against ‘Bama. Castellanos spearheaded the upset last season in Tallahassee following some bold words directed toward the Crimson Tide.

No doubt a loss to Alabama, albeit a lopsided one, will ignite more “Fire Norvell” chatter on the campus.
