The Boston Celtics held a press conference on Tuesday for new offseason additions Paul George and Mike Conley Jr. The Celtics acquired George in their blockbuster trade that sent Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers, while Conley Jr. later signed with the team in free agency.

Now, Conley Jr. has gotten 100 percent real on why he ended up choosing Boston this summer.

“The culture here in Boston speaks for itself. The championships, the banners, the fanbase. It encompasses all of that,” said Conley Jr., per the NBA on X, formerly Twitter.

Indeed, the Celtics are known to have one of the best basketball cultures in the league, although it has encountered some turmoil this summer with the trade of Brown, which upset large factions of the fanbase.

Meanwhile, Conley Jr. is not the same player he was earlier in his career for the Memphis Grizzlies, but he is still a reliable vet who has been making deep playoff runs with the Minnesota Timberwolves over the last few years, and now will join a Celtics team that still believes it has what it takes to compete for a championship despite getting rid of Brown this offseason, and exiting in the first round last year to the 76ers.

George will also look to prove that he still has some game left in the tank, having outplayed Brown head-to-head in Boston's 3-1 choke to the 76ers, and seemingly providing much of the outside shooting and defensive versatility that Boston was missing in that series.

The Celtics are set to kick off their new season on October 20 with a road game against the Detroit Pistons.
