Jared Young sustained a scary collision with Nolan McLean during the New York Mets' clash with the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday night.

The events took place in the top of the sixth inning. Philadelphia was on offense as one of its players landed a hit on the ball. It was going to first base as Young and McLean tried to retrieve it.

However, misfortune struck as McLean struck him hard on the head as Young stayed down on the ground. After some time, medics put him on a stretcher and carted him off the field. On the bright side, he gave a thumbs up to the crowd as it resulted in an ovation from the attending fans, per reporter Anthony DiComo.

“Really scary scene right now at Citi Field. Jared Young is in the process of being carted off after accidentally being struck full force in the head by Nolan McLean on this play. He appeared to be out cold for a moment following the play,” DiComo wrote.
