The Dallas Mavericks are less than a month away from kicking off their 2026-27. It's a highly anticipated one for reigning Rookie of the Year Cooper Flagg, who is looking to take the next step in his superstar development after being selected number one overall by the team in 2025.

Recently, NBA trainer Matt MacKenzie spoke about Flagg's height and how that will factor into his success moving forward in his career.

“I haven’t put a measuring tape next to him, so I can’t confirm or deny if he’s grown in height. All I can say is he’s had one hell of an offseason. And no matter if he’s 6-9, 6-10 or 6-11, he’s going to be a problem,” he said, per NBA insider Marc Stein on X, formerly Twitter.

Indeed, Flagg's stature and his elite mobility at that height are a large part of what made him such a tantalizing prospect to begin with, and the fact that he may have grown even more this offseason will certainly be a daunting prospect for opponents.

The next step in Flagg's evolution as a player is adding a consistent perimeter shot, which is one of the few areas where he struggled last season. However, if he can get to the point where opponents consistently have to fly out to him along the three-point line, it will make him that much more dangerous as a driver, as well as opening up his ability to play more off the ball, which he will be doing a lot next to Kyrie Irving this year.

In any case, the Mavericks are slated to kick off their new season on October 21 with a game against the Houston Rockets.
