The Green Bay Packers looked to have everything firing smoothly for the first half of their Week 1 tilt against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, but everything came apart. The Packers turned a 12-point lead into a 17-point loss, allowing 29 consecutive points in the second half of a 39-22 loss to their NFC North rivals who were without starting quarterback Kyler Murray.

The spiral started early in the fourth quarter when head coach Matt LaFleur opted to take a field goal off of the board after a Vikings penalty to go for a fourth-and-1 deep in Minnesota territory. The kick would have given the Packers a three-point lead, but instead a Jordan Love QB sneak was stuffed and the Vikings seized the momentum from there.

The Packers like to use tight end Tucker Kraft as a quarterback in QB sneak situations, but they opted not to here in the standout pass-catcher's first game back from a torn ACL. However, LaFleur and offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich were not on the same page about whether Kraft was available for that kind of thing, via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.

“Yesterday Matt LaFleur said the Tucker Kraft sneak wasn’t off the table because it was his first game back from the ACL,” Schneidman wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Adam Stenavich just said it *was* off the table because of that. Stenavich said ideally the Kraft sneak is the play there.”

It has become a common theme for teams to use their tight ends in QB sneak situations in recent years, and it sounds like that will be the case in Green Bay when the Packers get comfortable using Kraft after the injury. If they had done so on Sunday, maybe it would have been enough to prevent the Vikings' comeback and get a win in Week 1.

The Packers will have to get back on track with a Week 2 clash against the New York Jets, who are surprisingly off to a 1-0 start after taking down the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. That game will kick off at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday afternoon.
