Toss South Africa chose to bowl vs Australia
South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl in chilly, overcast conditions in Potchefstroom. The toss and the start of play were delayed half an hour by a wet outfield, but no overs were lost. As Temba Bavuma has been rested with one eye on the upcoming Test series, Aiden Markram was South Africa's stand-in captain. They have already sewed up the series 2-1.
The hosts rung in five changes, with Tony de Zorzi, Corbin Bosch, Ryan Rickelton, Nqobani Mokoena and Gerald Coetzee coming into the side. In addition to resting key players for the Tests, Markram said the changes were to give a wider group of players an opportunity.
Australia made three changes, meanwhile. Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Ollie Peake entered the XI in place of Jack Edwards, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Ellis.
