Manchester City have now won four from four in their Premier League games so far, only conceding twice in that time but scoring on average 2 per game.

It wasn't expected to be quite so successful at the start for Enzo Maresca, with many believing there might be a settling in period but that's not been the case at all.

It did look the case in the first game of the season too, especially after their 3-0 loss to Arsenal in the FA Community Shield Final, when they were 1-0 down to Bournemouth and it took a last gasp effort from Josko Gvardiol to win the match in the 92nd minute.

City only got the equaliser thanks to another defender, Marc Guehi, in the 84th minute and it all spared a rocky start, one that definitely helped kick them on to win the next three.

Haaland unstoppable

Erling Haaland is a striker like no other we've seen in the Premier League before with his attacking returns, especially goals per game.

He scored a brace against Palace, the winner against Coventry, a brace against Porto and the only goal in the Manchester Derby when they were down to ten men.

He's started this season off in the same vain he has been scoring for City and Dortmund, absolutely unstoppable and there's no signs of him blanking against Sunderland.

The Black Cats have opened the season with just one win so far, but sat down in fourth they will be hoping for better. With just five goals conceded their defence has done well, including keeping a clean sheet against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.

That might take its toll on players who went all out to defend that lead and quickly respond with a huge game away to Man City - opening up the possibility of a big showing from Haaland and co.

Best bets

Man City themselves played on Thursday night so they have one less day's rest than Sunderland, but they played Championship side Norwich in which didn't stretch them too much with plenty in rotation and lots of substitutions.

As such there's definitely a strong angle that there should be goals from both sides here.

Man City haven't been as strong defensively in recent months as they used to be, hence why they just finished second last season.

Both sides have played midweek so there's a case for both teams scoring with a bit of fatigue potentially hitting, or rotations to the squads mid-game which means Man City to win and both teams to score.

Rayan Cherki has been a main star for City, he should be amongst the goal involvements again this weekend against Sunderland, with his play style looking to really benefit against the way the Black Cats play.
