Just when the LSU football fans thought things were getting back on track after a chaotic last season, the team faced an early-season blowup with a loss to Ole Miss. And the latest outlook of tight end Trey’Dez Green only added to the situation.

In the latest image surfaced from around the football field, Green was seen on crutches after the Tigers’ 32-24 loss to Ole Miss on Saturday night.

Green suffered the injury early in the fourth quarter after catching a 19-yard pass with Ole Miss leading 24-21. He took heavy contact from multiple defenders and remained on the field before being helped off and taken to the locker room.

Green caught all four of his targets for 60 yards before leaving the game. He had emerged as LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt’s top target through the opening weeks of the season.

The 6-foot-7 tight end entered Saturday with 10 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown. His four receptions against Ole Miss pushed his season totals to 14 catches for 222 yards.

Green’s injury came at a time when the Tigers were within three points when he went down, and his absence left Leavitt without one of his most reliable options in the passing game.

LSU ultimately could not complete the comeback against Ole Miss, dropping to 2-1 on the season. The Tigers will now have to wait for further medical testing to determine how long Green could be sidelined.

LSU has an important SEC matchup coming up against Texas A&M next week. If Green cannot play, backup tight end Malachi Thomas could be tasked to take on a much larger role in the offense.

The Tigers are expected to learn more about Green’s knee after further evaluation, with his availability for the Texas A&M game now one of the biggest questions heading into next week.
