The Detroit Lions came out on top in a thrilling Week 7 matchup. Detroit prevailed in a 20-17 slugfest with Green Bay that featured sloppy play and plenty of penalties. One former Lions player had nothing but good things to say about the game's officiating since his team came out on top.
Lions legend Calvin Johnson spoke honestly about the officiating in Sunday's game during a recent interview.
“I mean, I would have been more pissed off in my day but some of those calls went our way so I'm like hey it's about time,” Johnson said on Monday via Up & Adams with Kay Adams.
Packers fans were furious with multiple calls that went against their team. One huge penalty was a roughing the passer call against Green Bay. Jared Goff completed a pass and was hit a few seconds afterwards by a defender. The contact was not too aggressive, and one could argue that the defender was simply trying to slow down. Still, the Lions benefitted from a 15-yard penalty and a first down.
Adams asked Megatron if he thought that really was roughing the passer. He replied with an obvious joke.
“He got a red jersey on. You can't see the red jersey but he's got the red jersey on, you can't hit those guys” Johnson joked. “You know that, you know that.”
Detroit also benefited from an unnecessary roughness penalty despite controversy on whether or not a whistle was blown. In total, the Packers committed eight penalties for 81 yards.
Many of these penalties looked like calls that would've gone against Detroit during Johnson's time in the NFL. Megatron is not asking any questions though, he just seems happy his team got the win.

Now Detroit is riding high at 4-2. They can gain even more ground in the NFC North if they win again next week.
Next up for the Lions is a home game against the undefeated Vikings in Week 8.
