The Pittsburgh Steelers are rumored to be shopping Joey Porter Jr. around on the trade market, and the Detroit Lions are one of several teams linked to the star cornerback. On Tuesday, head coach Dan Campbell opened up about the club's salary cap situation, and teased that the front office has some options on the table about what to do with the money.

After Detroit cleared over $30 million in cap space by restructuring the contracts of Amon-Ra St. Brown and Penei Sewell, the 50-year-old head coach admitted the Lions have some choices to make about what to do moving forward, according to Eric Woodyard of ESPN. However, Campbell did admit that he does not see the team making a big trade anytime soon, but he didn't necessarily close the door on that idea either.

“I will say this though, it gives us options,” Campbell said about the $30 million in freed up cap space. “Whether that be our own guys, or if — you know, it just gives us flexibility here before the season starts. Because there's a lot that can happen.”

The Lions are linked to Porter after letting go of cornerback Terrion Arnold this offseason after he was charged with eight felony counts, which included kidnapping and armed robbery. Detroit is down a starting defensive back, and someone like Porter would be a nice add if the front office pulled off a trade.

Joey Porter Jr. missed the Steelers' 20-13 Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Pittsburgh has claimed he is sitting out due to a back injury. But the former second-round pick has been seeking a contract extension all offseason, and speculation suggests the failure to agree to a new deal may be factoring in his unavailability early this season.

While rumors will continue floating around the league, Dan Campbell and the Lions will focus on the season at hand. The team is scheduled to take on the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. It will be a “Thursday Night Football” primetime matchup.
