The Detroit Lions picked up a crucial win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 7. Detroit has now won two straight games and is 4-2 heading into next week's clash with the Minnesota Vikings. However, head coach Dan Campbell nearly saw this whole thing blow up in his face.

In the fourth quarter, Detroit faced a fourth-and-one from their own 24-yard line. The Lions elected to go for it, which resulted in a two-yard loss. In the end, Detroit won, so the call hasn't received much scrutiny. However, it came to light after the game that analytic models agreed with his call. Campbell wasn't concerned with that, though.

“I'm shocked,” Campbell deadpanned, via Brad Galli of The Brad Galli Show. “I believed we were gonna get that. I know what you're conceding, but I also know, without any doubt, any question, we are getting the ball back with plenty of time to answer.”

The Lions' defense held strong following the failed fourth-down try. Detroit forced the Packers into a field goal attempt to take the lead. However, Trey Smack missed his second kick of the day. On the ensuing possession, the Lions marched down the field and kicked the game-winning field goal.

Detroit is 4-2 on the season as a result of this win. They are taking a good amount of confidence with them into Week 8's meeting with the Vikings. They can also rest easy knowing that Campbell's gamble, however risky it was, paid off in the long run for the Lions.
