The Detroit Lions are currently gearing up for their upcoming home matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon. The Lions are coming off a bye week, which would seemingly afford the team a chance to get healthier, although they are still dealing with multiple setbacks on that front.
One player who has yet to play for Detroit this season is safety Kerby Joseph, who has been dealing with a chronic knee issue.
Now, Lions head coach Dan Campbell has given the latest update on the star's status moving forward.
“Dan Campbell says he expects S Kerby Joseph to play this year. Didn't offer a timeline but says he's doing well,” reported Colton Pouncy of The Athletic on X, formerly Twitter.
The Lions' defensive backfield has looked vastly different this year than fans were anticipating before the season, as Joseph remains out of the lineup, Brian Branch recovers from a torn Achilles injury suffered last year, and the team has had to part ways with Terrion Arnold following his offseason arrest.
Predictably, Detroit's defensive unit has struggled as a result, putting the pressure on Jared Goff and the offense to put up huge numbers in order to keep the team winning.
Article Continues BelowDetroit currently sits at 3-2 on the season, although their wins haven't exactly come against a murderer's row of opponents, and vague updates on their star players' recovery processes certainly won't help ease fans' concerns.
In any case, the Lions and Packers are slated to kick things off on Sunday at 4:25 pm ET from Detroit in what will be America's Game of the Week for FOX.
