The Detroit Lions did not go down without a fight, but they fell short against the Buffalo Bills, 41-31, on Thursday in the inaugural game at New Highmark Stadium.

The Lions rallied from a 21-point deficit to inch closer to the Bills, 34-24. That, however, was the closest they would get, as the offense ran out of gas in the fourth quarter. It did not help that the defense was injury-stricken.

After the game, Detroit coach Dan Campbell admitted that the loss “stings,” as reported by ESPN's Eric Woodyard.

“Nobody likes it. Certainly I don't,” said Campbell. “(But) we've got a ton of room to grow.”

Even the duo of quarterback Jared Goff and running back Jahmyr Gibbs could not lift the Lions past the Bills, who drew another masterful performance from quarterback Josh Allen.

Goff went 26-of-38 for 327 yards for four touchdowns and zero interceptions. He was sacked four times. Gibbs finished with 16 carries for 52 yards and six receptions for 61 yards and a score.
