The Los Angeles Lakers lost a legend on Wednesday. On Wednesday night, the team announced that longtime public-address announcer Lawrence Tanter passed away at the age of 76, leading to many around the league sharing memories and moments with the legendary voice of the franchise.
LeBron James was among those who took a moment to reflect on Tanter's legacy and their time together in Los Angeles, writing that he made every Lakers home game special.
“REST IN PARADISE Lawrence Tanter! Loved seeing you pretty much every single home game for the past 8 years at the scores table and always acknowledging you with a (salute emoji) cause you deserved the (flowers emoji) while you were living! Your voice command and echoed throughout the entire arena,” James wrote on X. “You made home games SPECIAL! You will be truly missed! Glad we got to share some time together my man!

Tanter was the longest-tenured PA announcer in team history and was recognized around the league for his unique voice and style on the sidelines.
The Lakers have yet to name a successor for Tanter entering the 2026-27 season.
