The San Francisco 49ers made several roster moves Thursday, including signing veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks to their active 53-man roster ahead of their Week 4 matchup against the Denver Broncos.
San Francisco promoted Cooks from its practice squad while also bringing wide receiver Malik Turner back to the practice squad. The 49ers released wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge to create a spot for Cooks on the active roster.
ESPN's Nick Wagoner reported the initial moves Thursday via X, formerly known as Twitter.
“#49ers signed WR Brandin Cooks to the 53-man roster. They have brought WR Malik Turner back to the practice squad to take his place there.
“Awaiting word on corresponding move but did not see WR KhaDarel Hodge (knee) during early open portion of practice.”
Wagoner provided the corresponding move minutes later.

The decision puts Cooks on San Francisco's 53-man roster as the undefeated 49ers continue preparations for Denver.
Cooks provides San Francisco with another experienced option at receiver. The veteran has played for several teams during his NFL career and brings extensive experience to the 49ers' receiving corps as they attempt to maintain their strong start to the season.
Meanwhile, Hodge's release comes as he deals with a knee issue and was not spotted during the early portion of Thursday's practice open to reporters.
San Francisco enters Week 4 with a 3-0 record after defeating the Arizona Cardinals 36-30 in Week 3. The 49ers will look to remain unbeaten when they host a Broncos team that enters the matchup at 2-1.
The 49ers and Broncos will kick off Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.
