The LSU football program is currently gearing up for their first road game of the season on Saturday against the Ole Miss Rebels. The game will mark the return of Lane Kiffin to face his former team after he abandoned them just prior to their college football playoff run a season ago.

Now, Kiffin has spoken on his team's mindset ahead of the big game.

“The pressure is on them. We won seven games last year. They won 13. They returned two Heisman candidates. You guys get to go play. The pressure is not on you,” said Kiffin, per On3 Sports on X, formerly Twitter, via Wilson Alexander.

It's certainly an interesting way of viewing things for the coach who led Ole Miss to those wins last year before ditching them just before they took part in the college football playoff, ultimately making it to the semifinal round.

Meanwhile, LSU has gotten off to a good start to the season, although they did look shaky at times last week against Louisiana Tech before ultimately pulling away late, with quarterback Sam Leavitt tossing three interceptions, all in the first half.

It is sure to be a hostile environment in Oxford next weekend when Kiffin makes his return to face the team he built into a legit title contender during his half-decade at the helm. Both LSU and Ole Miss fancy themselves contenders for this year's national championship game, and the winner of this clash will sit at 3-0 and get a huge burst of momentum to open up the SEC schedule.

Kickoff between LSU and Ole Miss is slated for 7:30 pm ET in Oxford.
