The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired left-handed pitcher Kris Bubic before the 2026 MLB trade deadline. The former All-Star has yet to make has Dodgers debut. Bubic has been recovering from elbow and shoulder injury concerns. According to Maddie Lee of the Los Angeles Times, Bubic is going to join the Dodgers on Monday. However, he is not being activated from the injured list yet.

“Kris Bubic is set to join the Dodgers in Cincinnati, per sources. But because he made a rehab appearance yesterday, he isn’t expected to be activated right away,” Lee reported.

The fact that he is joining the team is encouraging. It seems as if he could be activated fairly soon, even if the move doesn't happen Monday.

The southpaw earned an All-Star selection in 2025 with the Kansas City Royals. He ended up only appearing in 20 games in 2025, but he turned in a strong 2.55 ERA during that span.

So far in 2026, Bubic has recorded a 4.11 ERA across nine total starts, all of which came with Kansas City earlier in the season. The Dodgers took a chance on him despite his injury concerns, and now he could make an impact down the stretch. Adding an All-Star pitcher this late in the season is a luxury.

While Los Angeles holds a nine-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League West standings, the Dodgers are still competing for the best record in the league. At 90-59, they are trailing the 93-57 Milwaukee Brewers at the moment.

LA will begin its series in Cincinnati against the Reds on Monday night at 6:40 PM ET.
