The New York Knicks may have won their third game of the 2026-27 season in seven contests with a 103-90 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, but there remains plenty of reasons for them to be concerned. Perhaps the most pressing concern for this Knicks team is the steep drop-off in Mikal Bridges' production, as he had another rough night on Monday despite the win.
Bridges put up just six points and two rebounds on 1-of-7 shooting from the field, and Knicks head coach Mike Brown limited his playing time accordingly — throwing him out for just 16 minutes of play.
Brown is urging Bridges to keep on finding ways to make an impact despite being “in a funk”, as the Knicks look to get the 6-foot-7 wing back to being at his best.
“When you're in a funk, you've got to find one or two things to hold your hat on. Mikal is one of the best runners in the NBA. Both directions, offensively and defensively. He has to hang his hat on that, as well as his cutting and trying to do the other little things of rebounding and driving, touching the paint and spraying it and then his shot will come eventually,” Brown said, via SNY on X.

Bridges has never missed a single game in his NBA career, and the mileage on his tires may be getting to him. It's clear that something is wrong with Bridges, as someone who averaged 14-4-4 last season didn't suddenly become an unplayable black hole on offense overnight.
After another rough outing, the Knicks forward is now averaging a paltry 6.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game this season. If he can't figure it out soon, he might end up losing his starting spot altogether. But the Knicks will be giving him every opportunity to get it together, because he showed in the playoffs that sometimes, all he needs is some time to get back into a rhythm.
