During the 2026 Winter Olympics, a scary on-ice event unfolded. As Switzerland took on Canada, Tom Wilson of Canada collided with Kevin Fiala of Switzerland. The result was an awkward tangling of legs, leading to Fiala needing to be taken off the ice via a stretcher. It was multiple lower-leg fractures on his left side, which needed surgery and ended his season with the Los Angeles Kings. There has been hope that Fiala would be ready for the start of the 2026-27 season, but that did not come to fruition.
Now, another update on the Kings' forward is being given, with some more positive news, per Zach Dooley of the Los Angeles Kings.
“Kevin Fiala is out on the ice this morning. Hearing this isn't his first day, either. Really good sign and I think it aligns pretty well with the timeline Ken Holland laid out a couple weeks back,” Dooley posted on X, formerly Twitter.

The 30-year-old was the 11th overall selection of the 2014 NHL Draft by the Nashville Predators. He made his NHL debut during the 2014-15 season and was traded to the Minnesota Wild during the 2018-19 season. He was traded as an impending restricted free agent to the Kings in 2022. He has played in 288 games with the Kings, scoring 105 goals and adding 102 assists.
Meanwhile, the Kings are 0-1-1 this season. They return to the ice on Tuesday night, hosting the Florida Panthers.
