The Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday were dealt a significant setback that could have lasting implications as they try to maintain their grip on the top spot in the AFC South.
The Jaguars are amid their bye week, but they found themselves with a major void in the offensive line. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, offensive tackle Anton Harrison's knee injury went from bad to worse.
“Jaguars starting LT Anton Harrison was revealed to have suffered a torn ACL during his surgery yesterday, sources say,” wrote Rapoport on X.
“The hope was just an arthroscopic procedure, but instead there was more damage. Harrison, who is already on injured reserve, is now out for the season.”
Harrison sustained the knee injury in the Jaguars' victory against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5 in London. He got hurt in the third quarter while blocking on a rushing play. He struggled to walk and had to be carted off to the locker room.
Following the team's return to the United States, the initial plan for the 24-year-old protector was a routine cleanup. However, it was discovered that Harrison suffered more severe structural damage once the operation was underway.

Harrison had only missed three games since Jacksonville drafted him with the No. 24 pick in 2023.
The Jaguars will face the Indianapolis Colts on November 1.
