Ole Miss just moved to 3-0 on the season after beating Lane Kiffin and LSU. In the game, quarterback Trinidad Chambliss led the game-winning drive, scoring on the ground to give the Rebels the final lead of the contest. This has led multiple analysts and players to call Chambliss the best quarterback in college football.
Now, his head coach, Pete Golding, is adding to the praise, speaking on the Pat McAfee show.
“Trinidad Chambliss is a fierce competitor, and our entire team has all the confidence in the world in him. Not based on what he's done, but based on how he comes in every day and prepares and works his butt off and how he practices and how he pulls the people around him with him. So, a lot of confidence our team has in him,” Golding said. “Obviously, I have a lot of confidence in him. Veteran quarterback, back in the system. He's won everywhere he's been. Won a national championship at Division II. Had a good run last year. So, love when the ball's in his hands.”
Chambliss has been great this year, completing 77 of 110 passes for 924 yards and seven touchdowns. He has also scored twice on the ground. Meanwhile, Golding also gave an update on running back Kewan Lacy.
Article Continues Below“As far as Kewan, Kewan did bang his shoulder up in the game. MRI on Sunday wasn't as bad as we thought. So we're going to manage it throughout the week and really evaluate it from a Saturday standpoint. Is he healthy enough to play winning football or not? That is why we went out and got three more backs in the offseason. I thought JT went in and played really well. Makhi will get healthy, so if for some reason he's not able to play, we'll have some other guys ready to roll in,” Golding added.
Lacy has run for 191 yards so far this year while scoring four times on the ground. Meanwhile, JT Lindsey has run for 48 yards, while Makhi Fraizer has nine rushes for 38 yards.
Ole Miss faces Florida on Saturday, with kickoff set for 3:30 pm ET.
