When news broke that the Philadelphia Eagles were officially making a change under center, contradicting Nick Sirianni's endorsement of Tanner McKee from earlier in the week by naming Joe Milton their Week 9 starter, it added some much-needed excitement to an NFC East showdown at Lincoln Financial Field.

Suddenly, the Eagles weren't going to let just good be good enough, especially when “just good” was roughly 213 yards, .66 touchdowns, and .66 interceptions per game, and instead, were going to go full yolo mode with one of the most athletically gifted quarterbacks in NFL history running the show against the NFC East front-running New York Giants.

Talking to reporters on Wednesday about Milton, Jordan Mailata couldn't help but get NSFW describing his athletic gifts, comparing the collegiate Volunteers' arm to a work of art.

“It is a f**king cannon. Oh my god, pardon my language,” Mailata said. “He, you see it on TV, you hear about it when he was going through the draft, but then when you see it, it's a work of art, man. For real. And, it's like, other than that, like, being the biggest, not really a surprise, but wow, like, it is the real deal.”

While Milton's athletic gifts often draw the headlines when he's being discussed, Mailata noted that he brings plenty more to the table than 70-yard bombs and backflips. No, Milton is actually a really good team guy and has been a bright spot in an otherwise dark season.

“He's really a team guy, like very open, talks to everyone,” Mailata noted. “It's a welcome sight because, you know, with everything going on, he brings a good light to it.”

Will Milton magically make the Eagles playoff contenders, providing a spark like when Nick Foles and/or Jalen Hurts took over for Carson Wentz last decade? Probably not, but hey, at this point, it's better than another below-average game from McKee, so why not give it a shot? It worked for the New England Patriots in Week 18 of the 2024 NFL season.
