It was not a good week for Florida or Texas in Week 6 of the college football season. Florida lost to South Carolina, 38-19, leading to their second straight loss. Meanwhile, Texas was upset by Oklahoma for their first loss of the year.
Now, Florida is getting a win over Texas, as they flipped a highly touted prospect on the College Football recruiting trail, per Eli Lederman of ESPN.
Easton Royal, a member of the 2027 class for Texas, has flipped his commitment to Florida.
“I know [Sumrall] is a winner,” Royal said this summer. “He won at Tulane and took them to the College Football Playoff. I know what he's all about. He's the type of coach I want to play for.”
Royal is the number 14 recruit in the class of 2027 and the second-ranked receiver. He is not a major physical presence, coming in at under six feet tall, but Royal is fast. He has multiple 100-meter dash records. He also told 247Sports why he is flipping.

It's a lot of new things that they have to offer that makes this staff so great,” Royal said. “[Florida's] attention to detail and family vibe they give. They are probably one of the only schools that has five receiver coaches. You might think that's not good, but there are no egos, and every coach can provide something different to help you.”
Florida is now 4-2 on the season. They look for a victory over the team they just took Royal from in their next contest, as Florida faces Texas next Saturday.
