On Monday evening, the Kansas City Chiefs started out their season on a strong note with a dominant home win over the Denver Broncos. This game marked the return of Patrick Mahomes after an ACL injury, but it was running back Kenneth Walker III who ended up stealing the show, breaking off several punishing runs against a Broncos defense that was one of the best against the run last year.

Now, former NFL star defensive lineman JJ Watt has revealed the new element that Walker III brings to the table in Kansas City during an appearance on ESPN's “The Pat McAfee Show.”

“The way that Kenneth Walker ran the ball really set the tone for the Chiefs,” said Watt, per Pat McAfee on X, formerly Twitter.

The Chiefs brought in Walker III this offseason from the reigning champion Seattle Seahawks after he won the Super Bowl MVP honors for his performance against the New England Patriots.

It's been several years since the Chiefs had a truly dynamic running game, with Mahomes himself starting out as the team's leading rusher for a good chunk of last season prior to his injury.

While Walker III may not be in the upper echelon of stars like Bijan Robinson of the Atlanta Falcons or Jahmyr Gibbs of the Detroit Lions, he still is a lot better than anyone the Chiefs have had in their offensive backfield over the last few years, and clearly is ready to make an impact as Kansas City looks to get back into the title discussion this year.

In any case, the Chiefs are next set to hit the field on Sunday evening for a home clash against the Indianapolis Colts.
