After watching the Los Angeles Lakers cough up a 25-point lead in their 112-95 loss to the Golden State Warriors, head coach JJ Redick put the loss into perspective on Friday. The Lakers outscored the Warriors 38-15 in the opening frame before Golden State returned the favor before halftime, and then took the lead for good in a 27-15 fourth-quarter run.
Redick reacted to the Lakers' disappointing loss to the Warriors as a testament to a team still trying to get to know one another in the first weeks of an 82-game regular season.
“We want to become a geat team. You don't become a great team in six games. We want to become a great team after 82 games and have a chance to go compete for a championship in April, May, and June,” Redick said. “It's a process to get there. We are going to be patient. There's also, along with patience, doing what you're supposed to do. I think as we play more games together, we do more walk-throughs together, we do more film together, we do more practice together; that will all get better.”
Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 37 points on 9-for-19 shooting, seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and one steal. After the loss, a reporter asked Doncic what will it take for Los Angeles to never give up such an advantage in what was a very winnable game against the Warriors.

So, it was a good game for us. I mean, not good because we lost, but it's good to practice those things. But, I don't know what it's going to take. It's going to take some time for sure. We got a lot of new guys. But I really like playing with these guys. Everybody can be better than this. We were up 25-23 [points]. Me first, I gotta be better.”
JJ Redick's Lakers fell to 4-2 in the young regular season. They'll host the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.
