The New York Jets will be without running back Breece Hall for a second consecutive game when they host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. The team ruled out Hall on Friday due to a quadriceps injury, leaving Braelon Allen positioned to handle the leading role in the backfield.
Hall sustained the injury during New York's Week 3 loss to the Detroit Lions and subsequently missed last Sunday's defeat against the Chicago Bears. He did not participate in Wednesday's or Thursday's practices and remains week-to-week. His next opportunity to return will come in Week 6 against the New England Patriots.
Through three appearances this season, Hall has recorded 265 yards from scrimmage, including 163 rushing yards and 102 receiving yards, along with one rushing touchdown.
Allen took on the majority of the workload versus the Bears, playing 32 of 34 offensive snaps and receiving every running back opportunity. He finished with 14 carries for 59 yards and added two receptions for eight yards on two targets. With Hall unavailable again, Allen is expected to continue leading the Jets' rushing attack.
New York will also be without wide receiver Adonai Mitchell and left guard Dylan Parham against the Browns. Mitchell, who has nine receptions for 123 yards in two games this season, will miss his third consecutive contest because of a finger injury. He did not require a procedure, although head coach Aaron Glenn has not disclosed whether the injury involves a fracture or a sprain.
Parham will miss his second straight game after suffering a knee injury versus the Lions. These absences leave the Jets without three offensive starters as the team attempts to end a three-game losing streak.
Article Continues BelowThere is some positive news for New York's offense, as tight end Mason Taylor is set to return after missing two games with a thumb injury. Meanwhile, veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick has participated fully in practice while working toward a possible return from injured reserve. The Jets will decide before Sunday's game whether to activate him.
Elsewhere, linebacker Kiko Mauigoa will miss his third consecutive game with a quadriceps injury. Cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and edge rusher Kingsley Enagbare, however, have a chance to play, according to Glenn.
New York enters the matchup at 1-3, while Cleveland has won three consecutive games to improve to 3-1.
