The New York Jets are hoping Minkah Fitzpatrick brings veteran leadership to a young defensive group this season. Unfortunately, he suffered an apparent groin injury early in the Week 1 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

Reports indicate that the 29-year-old safety walked off the field to the sideline under his own power after sustaining the injury, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. The Jets subbed Andre Cisco into the game for the time being.

“S Minkah Fitzpatrick to the sideline with what appears to be a groin injury,” Cimini reported. “Andre Cisco now at safety.”

While it's a good sign that he walked off the sideline, Fitzpatrick is officially ruled questionable to return, per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. It's said that rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper is also questionable.

“Minkah Fitzpatrick (groin) and Omar Cooper (ankle) are questionable to return,” Rosenblatt reported.
