It’s a rainy day at MetLife Stadium and the wet weather has dampened the offenses for both the Jets and the Browns.
The Jets opened the game with a brisk, 80-yard touchdown drive, but that was the only visit to the end zone for either team over the first 30 minutes of play. The Browns were able to pick up a pair of field goals and the Jets lead 7-6 with the ball coming their way to kick off the second half.
Jets quarterback Geno Smith connected with wide receiver Garrett Wilson three times for 70 yards and a touchdown on that opening drive, but the ball has only gone Wilson’s way once since he found the end zone. That pass fell incomplete and Smith only has 25 yards on his other five completions. He’s also been sacked three times with Browns defensive tackle Maliek Collins picking up a pair of them.
The Jets defense has kept the team in front despite that offensive struggle. First-round pick David Bailey has two of their four sacks of Deshaun Watson and the Browns have managed just 99 yards on their 33 offensive plays.
Wide receiver KC Concepcion left with a head injury in the first quarter and will not return, so the Browns will have to look elsewhere for someone to spark their offense in the second half.
