The New York Giants are getting ready to live out their nightmare scenario. Not only did the Giants get embarrassed by the Rams in Week 2, but they've now also lost their starting quarterback. Giants QB Jaxson Dart left the game in the first quarter and did not return. Unfortunately, the Giants did not get good news from Dart's MRI on Tuesday.
Dart's knee injury is reportedly “worse than anticipated” and the second-year quarterback is now out indefinitely. There is a chance that he will miss the rest of the 2026 season while he recovers.
This is obviously the worst-case scenario for New York. Now the Giants will be forced to turn to Jameis Winston at quarterback for possibly the rest of the season.
New York has a monumental task ahead of themselves if they want to rescue the 2026 season. It won't be easy, but the Giants need to give their all for the rest of the 2026 season with Dart out. But it won't be the same without their starting quarterback.
How does Dart's injury change the fantasy football outlook for other Giants players throughout the rest of the season?
Sit Jameis Winston, any other Giants quarterback for rest of season

Don't go looking for Winston on the waiver wires as your replacement for Dart.
The veteran quarterback struggled mightily in Week 2. He finished 11-of-27 passing for 111 yards with an interception. That is only good for 2.54 fantasy points, a terrible performance for a player at any position. But that is especially bad for a quarterback.
Sadly, the Giants probably won't find another good replacement for Dart this season. They will likely stick with Winston and add another quarterback or two as depth pieces. Regardless of who they add, that player won't be viable for fantasy football either.
Remember, Dart's rushing upside was one big reason why he was a strong fantasy asset. There's no way a different quarterback will come in off the street and play better than he did specifically for fantasy purposes.
Simply put, stay away from Giants quarterbacks for the rest of the season.

Unfortunately, Dart's injury should have some nasty consequences for the rest of New York's offensive players in fantasy football.
It is easy to understand the logic for the pass catchers. New York's passing game has not been strong this season, even when Dart was healthy. Installing a backup quarterback will be terrible news for Malik Nabers, Darnell Mooney, Isaiah Likely, and the rest. Opposing teams will not respect the Giants on third down and could make life very difficult for Winston or whoever else plays this year.
Meanwhile, the situation doesn't look much better for the running game. Cam Skattebo was incredibly inefficient in Week 2 once Dart left and New York's game plan became clear. If the Rams can have that much success selling out to stop the run, other NFL teams can do the same.
Skattebo has gotten by so far while part of a committee of running backs. But that committee approach, paired with Dart's injury, makes Skattebo much less valuable for the rest of the 2026 season.
This isn't to say that none of these players are valuable. Nabers and Skattebo are both great assets in dynasty formats and could still be week-to-week starters in standard leagues. But they are not as valuable as they were with Dart at quarterback.
It will be fascinating to see how New York's offense responds to losing Dart. But at this point, it is only fair to assume the worst.
