2027 will be a fresh start for Jannik Sinner, as Magnus Norman will coach him after his current coach, Darren Cahill, retires at the end of the 2026 season.
Norman is a highly decorated coach held in high regard within the world of tennis. The Swede guided Swiss legend Stan Wawrinka to three Grand Slam titles between 2014 and 2016.
One of the titles he guided Wawrinka to was Roland Garros in 2015, the only slam Sinner is yet to claim in his young career. Guidance from Norman will hopefully help the Italian complete a Career Slam, something Carlos Alcaraz achieved at the start of 2026.
Who is Magnus Norman?
Norman is a former ATP world number two with 12 tour titles to his name. The Swede won his 12 titles between 1997 and 2000, with seven of them on clay courts.
An area of strength for both Norman and Sinner, a partnership that could elevate the Italian’s game.
Norman turned pro in 1995 and retired from the pro scene in 2003 with 244 wins. In a relatively short professional career (partly due to significant injuries), the Swede was regarded as a strong competitor in his generation. Reaching the Roland Garros final at the turn of the millennium.

After building his reputation with Johansson, Norman assisted fellow Swedish player Robin Soderling. He coached his fellow Swedish native to two consecutive finals at Roland Garros.
The team won the Paris Masters in 2010 before Norman put a partial end to coaching to spend more time with family.
Prominent players asked about the Swede’s availability for coaching, which he declined until a player from his “Good to Great Tennis Academy”. That being Wawrinka.
Guiding the Swiss star to three Grand Slams, Norman has stuck by his side ever since, with it ending this year as Wawrinka retires from the sport.

Sinner and Cahill’s Achievements
Sinner and Cahill have achieved a catalogue of titles under the Australians tenure. Titles include numerous slams, and he’s helped Sinner become one of the greatest Masters events players to grace the sport.
Cahill began working with Sinner in 2022, another man regarded as one of the best coaches in tennis. He had previously worked with Andre Agassi, Lleyton Hewitt and Simona Halep before making a move to guide the Italian number one.
The team have won five Grand Slams together and helped Sinner become a world number one.
This year he’s coached Sinner to the Career Gold Masters, making Sinner the only player to have this achievement alongside the legend Novak Djokovic.
Cahill was set to retire at the end of 2025, but Sinner pleaded with him to stay another year, and he complied. Sinner won numerous 1000 titles and Wimbledon before the Italian’s injury ended his competitive action for the rest of the year.
Marking an end to a luxurious journey together.
When will fans first see Sinner and Norman together?
In recent days, there has been confirmation that Sinner will participate in the Six Kings Exhibition event in Saudi Arabia at the end of December.
Rumours are that the Swede will be at Sinner’s camp in Saudi Arabia. The Italian will look to rebuild fitness and test his affected knee before deciding when his competitive tour return will come in 2027.
