The Chicago Bears are making moves as they look to take the NFC North in 2026. Chicago is releasing cornerback Nick McCloud, per The 33rd team. McCloud appeared in just two games this season for the squad.

McCloud is a journeyman player. The defensive back was in his second stint in Chicago. He has also played with the San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants, and other teams.

McCloud did post a fumble recovery this season. He had just been signed to Chicago's active roster earlier in October. In his NFL career, the corner has 123 total tackles. He has appeared in 63 NFL games.

Chicago made another transaction on Tuesday. The Bears signed running back Zavier Scott to their active roster.

“Scott was elevated from the practice squad to play in each of Chicago’s last three games, so they would have had to expose him to waivers in order to bring him up on a temporary basis again. He has played exclusively on special teams and he’s been credited with five tackles and a forced fumble,” NBC reported.

The Bears are 5-2 on the season. Chicago has won back-to-back games. Chicago is also reportedly looking to add more talent ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

“I think we’re heading into a very active NFL trade deadline,” NFL insider Jordan Schultz said, per The Pivot. “We could see anywhere from 12 to, call it, 20 trades, and two teams I’m watching closely: the 49ers and Bears. I’ve heard both teams connected to several defensive players, including rushers Josh Sweat, Khalil Mack also DeForest Buckner. Along with some names who aren’t necessarily on the trade block. I think both Chicago and San Francisco want to be aggressive, and I’ll be shocked if they don’t make a move before the deadline.”

Chicago is next in action against the Seattle Seahawks on November 2.
