Taking to social media to reveal his reporting, The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane revealed that Carter suffered a hairline fracture in his right wrist, which is why he wore a soft cast against the Tennessee Titans and the Chicago Bears.

“DT Jalen Carter has a hairline fracture in his right wrist, NFL sources told The Inquirer,” McLane reported. “Carter suffered the injury in Week 1 and has played with a soft cast the last two games. His playing time has decreased, although he’s still playing the most at his position.”
