The Jaguars had to turn to backup safeties due to injuries in last Sunday’s game against the Colts and one of them came up with a huge play at the end of the first half.

Rayuan Lane snagged a Daniel Jones pass that tight end Tyler Warren couldn’t control and returned it 92 yards for a touchdown that pushed Jacksonville’s lead to 28-0 before halftime. The Jaguars went on to win 42-7.

Lane ended the day with four tackles, three passes defensed and a quarterback hit. That effort led to him being named the AFC defensive player of the week on Wednesday.

Lane was a 2025 sixth-round pick and his play last Sunday could help him earn a continued role in the secondary with Eric Murray out for the season due to an elbow injury.
