The Jacksonville Jaguars could be without one of their key offensive contributors for Thursday night's matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Running back Bhayshul Tuten is listed as questionable after missing the first two practices of the week, and head coach Liam Coen has indicated that his status could come down to game time.
Michael DiRocco reported that Tuten and defensive end Travon Walker are both questionable for the contest. However, Tuten's situation remains worth monitoring after Coen provided a more encouraging update Wednesday.
According to Mia O'Brien, Coen expects Tuten to participate in some capacity at practice Wednesday after the running back was sidelined Monday and Tuesday. Tuten also told his head coach personally that he was feeling better, giving Jacksonville some optimism ahead of the short turnaround.
Still, getting some work in Wednesday does not guarantee Tuten will be available against Baltimore. Coen has already acknowledged that the running back could be a game-time decision.
Tuten's availability matters as Jacksonville prepares for a difficult matchup against the Ravens. If he cannot play, the Jaguars will need their other running backs to shoulder more responsibility, particularly in a game where establishing the ground attack could help take pressure off the passing offense. Chris Rodriguez Jr. could be a sneaky fantasy option if Tuten is out.
The encouraging part for Jacksonville is that Tuten appears to be trending in the right direction. After missing two consecutive practices, even limited participation Wednesday would give the Jaguars a better indication of whether he can contribute Thursday night. His status will be one of the biggest injury developments to watch before kickoff.
